Google Adwords campaigns

I tried an experiment this week.
I was getting a 3.99% click thru rate in Australia with a average click price of $1.55.
I had my per click price around $2

I had the and a 1.34% ctr in England with an average click price of $1.85.
I had my per click price around $2

I changed both click thru price that I was willing to pay to $1.50
Here are my results:
Australia
2.91% ctr
$1.38 ave cost of click

England
1.98% ctr
$1.53 ave cost of click

So my % actually went up in England and saved me money, while my % went down 1% in Australia.

I also did another experiment - I shut off both google campaigns for a day and my signups cut in half. I turned them back on and the signups shot back up.

Another trick I may use is to pick what time of day to run the ads. It appears that my signups are happening in the overnight hours.
